MARTYN Joseph returns to Wirral next week as part of his current tour.

The Welsh guitarist and singer, described as a cross between Bruce Springsteen and Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler, is at Pacific Road Arts Centre in Woodside next Wednesday, November 18.

In a career spanning 25 years he has been in the UK top 50 chart five times and toured with the likes of Suzanne Vega, Marc Cohn, Joan Armatrading, Runrig, Clannad, Chris de Burgh, Art Garfunkel, Jools Holland and even Dame Shirley Bassey.

He told the Globe: "Apart from the touring, which seems to be a never-ending thing for me these days, I'm also writing a whole lot of new material and hope to record a new album.

"I played the Edinburgh Festival this year I’m also off to America and Canada in the new year.

"Touring keeps me on edge, because I don’t get played on the radio that much anymore. I have to play the bills, so touring is the only way."

Tickets for next Wednesday's show, which starts at 8pm, are available from 0151 666 0000.
