THERE have been some decidedly spooky goings-on after dark in the Birkenhead Tunnel this week as movie makers filmed scenes for the latest Harry Potter film, the Deathly Hallows.

Film crews took advantage of the tunnel being closed for essential maintenance to shoot the scenes, which were due to finish tonight (Wednesday).

Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of stars like Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry Potter or Emma Watson who performs as Hermione will be disappointed though as publicists for the Warner Brothers' film said none of the main cast members are involved in the shoot.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - the final instalment of the JK Rowling books - will be made into two films, after producers said one film would be too long.

Film bosses were tight-lipped about which part of the plot was being filmed, but it is likely to be an action scene given that stunt experts are reported to be involved.

It's possible scenes shot at the Birkenhead Tunnel will relate to those already filmed at London's Dartford Tunnel in July, when Harry and Hagrid escape on a motorbike and side car from the “Death Eaters.”
