Staff and pupils at Wirral Grammar School for Girls are celebrating unprecedented success with their GCSE results.

100% of pupils gained at least 5 A*-C grades (including English and Maths).

28.1% of all results were graded A* grades and 64% were A*/A grades.

The average point score per candidate was 508.7.

99% of pupils achieved 2 or more A*-C grades in Science.

Jenny Bo achieved 11 A* grades and Victoria Hughes achieved 11 A*/A grades.

Ten girls - Sally Aziz, Monica Boughdady, Serena Deakin, Heather Dunn, Nicola Farthing, Emma Hand, Rose Jones, Isobel Macgregor, Isobel Routledge and Jennifer Smethurst - each achieved 10 A* grades.

A further 31 girls also achieved A* or A grades in all of their subjects.

They were: Naomi Alleyne, Laura Armand, Alex Buckley, Rosie Carvell, Loretta Coles, Bryony Coombs, Nicole Cox, Lauren E. Davies, Sarah Eaglesham, Fatima Farrukh, Rebecca Fair, Lois Furlong, Frances Hall, Jessica Hawe, Catherine Hayward, Hannah Holt, Laura Jeffreys, Amina Khanam, Alisha Maxwell, Rowena Maxwell, Sophie Muise, Charlotte Pickstock, Helen Powell, Katherine Smethurst, Elizabeth Stokell, Emma Tivey, Megan Tolen, Joanna Tripney, Lindsey Weedon, Emma Woods and Annina Youde.

Headteacher Mrs Elaine Cogan congratulated all the girls on their results.

She said: "These results reflect the hard work and dedication of both pupils and staff and the fantastic support of parents and governors.

"They are well deserved and again reflect the high academic standards at Wirral Grammar School for Girls."

The superb results at Wirral Grammar School for Girls follow on from the excellent A Level results last week, which put the school at the top of the Wirral and North West league tables, 92nd in the country and 32nd in the grammar school league table.
