WIRRAL actress Suzanne Collins is enjoying new success in Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels on stage at the Royal Court in Liverpool.

The former Brookside star plays cafe owner Maggie in Dave Kirby and Nicky Allt’s comic tale of the Liverpool Three, which ends on August 22.

Fed up with being looked down on and mocked by the self proclaimed upper class from Wirral, the trio decide to take the law into their own hands and become The Kingsway Three.

Liverpool-born Suzanne, who played Nikki Shadwick in the former Channel Four soap, told the Globe: "I've been with the show since it started in 2006 and have really enjoyed being in it. It's full of Scouse humour and the cast are fantastic.

"But if you haven't seen it, make sure you do. Because the Royal Court has no plans for a fifth run so it could be the last chance to see it."

Since it was first staged in 2006, the acclaimed show has sold a combined 100,000 tickets.

As well as their stage work, Suzanne and her former Brookside co-star and friend Ann-Marie Davies are also due to hold their holiday drama club for youngsters.

Aimed at six to 14-year-olds, High Horizons takes participants on a week of drama, singing and games which lead to a final showcase performance.

The courses are at Bebington Sports College from August 17-20, from 9am-3pm and Mount Primary School in Wallasey from August 17-28. There is also a course at a Liverpool venue, which is yet to be confirmed, from August 24-27. Details on all courses are from 653 3150 or 608 9477.

Suzanne and Ann-Marie recently rubbed shoulders with the stars when they attended a premiere at the Cannes film festival.

Set in a Liverpool scrap yard, Charlie Noades RIP was written by and stars Neil Fitzmaurice, who shot to fame in comedy series Phoenix Nights.

Suzanne appears in the film. She said: "Cannes was just amazing and there's a real buzz in the place.

"Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard also flew in to celebrate. I was just made up that Ann-Marie could come with me."

Ann-Marie has also just finished appearing in a play immortalising the greatest night in Liverpool Football Club's history, One Night Istanbul.

Written by Nicky Allt, it was about four fans whose journey to the Ataturk Stadium in May 2005 was thrown off course when they stumble upon a big bag of cash.
