MORE than 600 scouts marched through West Kirby at the weekend to celebrate St George's Day.
Beaver Scouts, cub scouts, scouts, explorers and leaders marched through the village on Sunday, April 26.
St George is not only the Patron Saint of England but was chosen by Lord Baden Powell as the Patron Saint of Scouting as his qualities of courage, endeavour and thinking of others reflects the promise that all Scouts take when they join the Association.
At the various church services they heard the story of St George, learnt about Fair-trade and in St Andrews Church the Scout section also celebrated 100 years of Sea Scouts, of which Wirral has two groups.
"We were also pleased to support Claire House at these services."
A spokesman for West Wirral Scout Association said: "Our thanks go to the church ministers, the band of the Boys and Girls Brigade, The Wirral Lions and Merseyside police for their assistance on the day and to the people of West Kirby for their patience.
"We were also pleased to support Claire House at these services."
