Doubt has been cast over the conviction of a delivery driver for sexual assault.
Anthony Rimmer had been due for sentence today after being found guilty last month of molesting an 18-year-old Wirral girl in his van.
But his barrister, Neville Biddle, told Liverpool Crown Court that a short time after his trial ended "certain information came to light that could affect his conviction."
The information involves photographs on a social networking site alleged to be the victim and Mr Biddle said that if was her that would have been admissable at Rimmer's trial.
He said that the judge had the power, after more information is obtained, to certify the case should be heard by the Court of Appeal.
Gerald Baxter, prosecuting, said that police officers would have to take a statement from the victim to find out if they are photographs of her and about how they came to be on the site.
Judge John Phipps further remanded 47-year-old Rimmer, of Oakfield Road, Walton, on bail until March 9. When he was convicted he had warned him he faces a jail sentence.
