A WIRRAL pub is turning heads with a growing Halloween display that is said to be attracting visitors of all ages.

The Horse & Jockey in Upton has been transformed inside and out with an eye-catching collection of spooky decorations, including a giant skeleton, spider webs and other themed props.

Kirsty Mills, who runs the pub with her partner Graham Howard, said: "It's nice for the kids, because there are two schools nearby.

"There's people that walk past it, and say 'I can't wait to see what you're doing for Christmas and all the events in the year'.

"The kids like the display, especially the skeleton at the top."

The couple took over the pub in late July and have drawn on their experience running previous venues to create a standout seasonal display.

The display is already turning heads, but the couple say it’s not finished yet and will continue to grow in the run-up to October 31.

Mr Howard continued: "The display is large at the minute, but it's going to get even bigger."

The decorations serve a purpose beyond just creating a spooky atmosphere, helping to draw people inside and build a sense of community around the pub.

Ms Mills said: "It's curb appealing as well - you know for sure that you've got Halloween going on.

"They're going to come in and say, 'oh, what have we got going on for Halloween?' We've got a few kids parties planned. We've also got our own Halloween party and we've got an adult party as well."

The decorations have been a talking point in the neighbourhood, with even police officers stopping to admire the effort.

Mr Howard said: "They've actually stopped and pulled up and said, 'What a fantastic display.'"

The display is a family effort, with relatives pitching in to help gather decorations and set them up.

Among the standout features is a large skeleton named Ross, which has become a favourite with children and passers by.

The couple say the pub’s Halloween plans are just the start of a wider calendar of community events.

With just over two weeks until Halloween, the display is set to get even bigger — and the pub team are encouraging everyone to stop by and take a look.
