Plans have been submitted by delivery firm InPost to site the locker at the front of the Grade II listed station building on Station Road.
The unit would measure around 2m wide and just over 2.2m high, and would be placed against a return wall near the station entrance.
Planning documents say the locker would be battery-operated and not fixed to the building, meaning it could be removed without affecting the historic structure.
Hoylake station sits within the Meols Drive Conservation Area and is recognised as a landmark building dating back to 1938.
However, the applicant argues the locker would have minimal visual impact due to its small size, neutral colour scheme and “clean, simple” design.
The statement adds it would sit among existing street furniture such as signage, lighting and bins, making it relatively unobtrusive.
It concludes the proposal would not harm the character of the conservation area or the setting of the listed station, which already has an Amazon Hub locker present on its grounds.
The application is subject to a consultation period - during which time local residents may submit their views on the plans - which ends on August 7. The expiry date for the application itself is September 9.
