Wallasey pub offers free pints during World Cup

The Royal Oak in Wallasey has signed up to the “Straight Through Crew” initiative, aimed at supporters planning to watch every minute of the action. The deal allows customers to pre-pay for four matching draught pints and receive a fifth free on England matchdays.

Drinkers are given a stamp card at the bar, which is marked off with each pint collected, cutting down time spent queuing during key moments of the game.

The offer is being rolled out by Proper Pubs, the community-focused division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 200 sites across the UK. The company says the scheme is designed to reward loyal customers and keep matchday atmospheres lively in local pubs.

While only one Wirral venue is included, several other pubs across the wider Merseyside area are also taking part. These include the Brown Cow Inn, Melbourne, Prince George Hotel and Queens Arms in Liverpool, as well as the Railway Hotel in L21 and venues in St Helens such as the Boars Head, Little Pig and the Vulcan.

Across the North West, participating pubs span Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and Cumbria, reflecting a broad push to bring fans together in community settings during the tournament.
