A LANDMARK pub is set to re-open this summer under new management following a £1.5m refurbishment.
The Boathouse in Parkgate, a 19th-century pub overlooking the Dee Estuary in Wirral, will reopen in June under the leadership of new general manager Dale Tozer.
Mr Tozer, originally from New Zealand and a resident of nearby Heswall for 26 years, brings three decades of hospitality experience to the role.
He said: "The Boathouse has always been a jewel of the Wirral, but this refurbishment takes it to an entirely new level.
"Having lived and worked in Heswall for over two decades, I have a deep understanding of this area and exactly what our customers expect from a premium dining experience.
"I was drawn back to the pub environment as I thrive on the daily energy of a busy pub and restaurant, and there is no better place to return than such a landmark site."
The pub, owned by Salford-based brewer and pub retailer Hydes, has been closed since March 1 for a three-month transformation.
The project is part of a wider multi-million-pound investment across the Hydes estate.
Upgrades include a modernised interior, a refurbished 50-seat function room, and the addition of a new rooftop terrace with views of the RSPB nature reserve.

"His deep roots in the local community and his proven track record of managing high-volume, quality establishments ensure that our flagship Wirral site is in expert hands."
The Boathouse is expected to create 25 new jobs.
Mr Tozer previously spent 20 years with Mitchells & Butlers and has managed several country pubs.
He has held general manager roles at the Anchor Inn in Irby, the Devon Doorway in Heswall, and the Cheshire Cat in Christleton.
Hydes Brewery, based in Media City, Salford, was established in 1863 and operates more than 40 pubs across the North West and North Wales.
