A CACHE of weapons were found hidden in the grounds of a Wirral leisure centre by police during a search.
Officers from the Local Policing Team at Wallasey and North West Regional Organised Crime Unit joined colleagues for a search of Leasowe Recreation Centre's grounds, following reports of anti-social behaviour and crime in the local area.
A post on Wirral Police's Facebook page read: "During the search, officers have recovered a variety of weapons which were secreted including metal poles, golf clubs, rakes and wooden posts with nails sticking out.
"If you have any information regarding the storage of weapons, drugs or vehicles used for crime and anti-social behaviour, please report it to us directly or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111".
