FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a blaze at derelict building in Moreton this evening.
Crews were alerted to the incident on Pasture Road at 5.49pm. Eight fire engines, an aerial appliance and the service drone were in attendance.
The crews arrived to find approximately 100 x 50 metres of the roof of the building, located behind the former Typhoo factory, was involved in fire.
A statement on Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service's website read: "The incident has been sectorised and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are fighting the fire internally using hose reel jets. The drone has been set up to assist situational awareness at the scene.
"Residents and businesses nearby should close windows and doors. If you have an existing medical condition, keep medicine close and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111 for advice.
"This is an ongoing incident. Please avoid the area."
