POLICE have issued a warning to fly-tippers after being called to four incidents of rubbish being dumped in rural areas of Wirral.
Officers from Merseyside Police's Rural, Wildlife & Heritage team received four separate reports of rural fly-tipping within the space of an hour.
Pictures on the Wirral Police Facebook page show what was found.
The post read: "In the space of one hour, four separate reports of rural fly-tipping were taken which is sadly becoming an all too familiar issue in our countryside."We all have a personal responsibility in controlling where our waste ends up and if using a waste carrier, check their legitimacy by asking to see their certificates and licence. Otherwise, your waste may end up on a grass verge, in our fields or hedgerows.
"We continue to work hard with the Environment Agency and local Councils to tackle this issue, and if the waste is traced back to your address you may be prosecuted or issued with a fine.
"Please help us to protect our countryside by remaining vigilant and mindful to report any potential waste crime.
"If it’s happening there and then – contact the Police on 101 or via Merseyside Police Contact Centre If it’s already happened, then report it via your local Council.
"Further guidance and advice around who the correct agency to contact and how to obtain waste permits can be found on your local council website here: https://www.gov.uk/dispose-household-waste "
