A VERDICT of accidental death has been recorded on a woman who passed away four days after a fall at her Wirral home.
Merseyside Police originally began a criminal investigation following Karina Skorupa's death in November 2022 which led to three arrests, including one for manslaughter.
An inquest at Gerard Majella Courthouse in Bootle this afternoon (Tuesday, September 24) was told that Mrs Skorupa had been admitted to hospital with an arm injury on Saturday, November 26, 2022 following a fall at her home in Birkenhead. She passed away at Arrowe Park Hospital four days later, on November 30.
Coroner Andre Rebello told the hearing that Mrs Skorupa, 54 was found at her home on St Anne's Street, Birkenhead by her daughter and was admitted to hospital with infected open fracture of her left arm.
Mrs Skorupa, who was originally from Poland, underwent surgery and later developed sepsis and multi-organ system failure. She died on November 30, 2022.
Mr Rebello recorded the cause of death as multiple organ failure and sepsis.
He said: "Mrs Skorupa explained that the fracture had been caused by a fall at home."
A 47-year-old man was arrested at the time under investigation for suspected manslaughter.
Two other men, aged 65 and 41, were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender.
Merseyside Police confirmed no further action was taken against all three.
