A "major gas leak" on the A41 near Ellesmere Port is affecting traffic today (Monday, September 16).
Cadent Gas and National Highways have alerted Cheshire West and Chester Council to the incident, which is at the junction with the B5133 Hooton Road in Hooton, near The Chimneys Country Pub.

The A41 has been closed in one direction at this point while engineers work to carry out emergency repairs on the site. Traffic is unable to proceed northbound to the M53 motorway junction.
A diversion route has been set up while works take place.
