A WIRRAL restaurant that attracted more than 1,000 people through its doors within days of opening has closed temporarily.

Bobo, on Banks Road in West Kirby, was opened by Steven Burgess and Josh Moore on August 17 last year but is currently closed.

Its online bookings service has been disabled and its Trip Advisor page says the location is "permanently closed".

However, a sign on the door reads: "Everyone deserves a summer holiday and well earned rest in the sunshine!

"We will be back recharged and ready to rock West Kirby soon!"

A spokesperson for Bobo said: "We had a really busy summer period and everyone worked really hard.

"We have an ethos where we believe everyone in the team deserves a break as much as anyone else in any other industry.

"With seasonal changes in the area we've decided they deserve a break so they can rest up and then they come back to work ten times better.

"There's no end period when they will be returning but they will be returning with lots of new training having been delivered."

The spokesperson added that the restaurant will reopen "at some point" but could not confirm a date.

The Iberian eatery - described as 'Portugal on the Dee' - served homemade food inspired by traditional Portuguese and Spanish cuisine, including charcoal chicken which celebrates authentic Algarvian cooking techniques and flavour using a traditional Frango Piri-Piri from its origin in Guia, Albufeira.

Its owners were 'overwhelmed' by the public's response to the venue, after saying that more than 1,500 people came through its doors in the first ten days since its launch.
