A MAN in his 80s was taken to hospital with a leg injury after he was hit by a car in Birkenhead.

At around 7pm on Friday, August 23, police received a report of a collision involving a black Honda Jazz and a man in his 80s at the junction of Grange Road East and Argyle Street in the town.

The injured man remains in hospital receiving treatment.

The driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.

Merseyside Police said enquiries are being carried out into the circumstances and are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage of the collision which may assist the investigation to get in touch.

Inspector Carl McNulty said: “Our investigations continue into this serious collision that has left a man with a serious leg injury and he still remains in hospital receiving treatment.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to please contact us as a matter of urgency so we can establish the circumstance.

“We would also urge any motorists who were in the area at that time to please check your dashcam footage to see if captured the incident which will help with the investigation.”
