A TEMPORARY banking hub has opened its doors in West Kirby.
Located at Westbourne Community Trust on Westbourne Road in the town, it has been set up by Cash Access UK, a not-for-profit organisation established 'to protect nationwide access to cash'.
The temporary Hub will be open five days a week and will remain available until the new permanent Banking Hub opens.
It offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
It also offers a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub:
- Monday: Lloyds
- Tuesday: NatWest
- Wednesday: Barclays
- Thursday: Santander
- Friday: HSBC
A Cash Access UK spokesperson confirmed it is working to secure a permanent home for the Banking Hub. Updates and more details on temporary can be found here: https://www.cashaccess.co.uk/hubs/west-kirby-wirral/.
Gareth Oakley, the organisation's chief executive, said: “Following the opening of the new temporary Banking Hub in West Kirby, I am delighted to say that local residents can now enjoy access to cash and face-to-face banking services once again.
"We are working hard to progress the permanent home for the Hub and will provide an update to the community soon."

Cash Access UK is owned and funded by nine of the UK's biggest banks: Bank of Ireland, Barclays, Danske Bank, HSBC UK, Lloyds Banking Group, NatWest Group, Santander, TSB and Virgin Money. These firms have come together to provide shared services available to all their customers.
Although cash use is said to be in decline Cash Access UK say it is still important to millions of people in the UK, with between five to six million adults still reliant on cash in their day-to-day lives.
