POLICE have issued CCTV images of a man who they believe could have information that may help with enquiries following a car fire in Seacombe.
At around 8.45pm on Saturday, August 3, it was reported that a man was seen pouring petrol into an open window of a black Audi Q5 which was parked on Ilchester Road behind the Great Float Social Club on Poulton Road and then set it alight.
The suspect then ran off along Poulton Road eastbound.
In a statement this evening, Merseyside Police said 'extensive' CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.
Detective Constable Patrick Shaw said: "This was dangerous and reckless where the offender put lives at risk and the fire could have spread to other cars and the social club.
"Thankfully no one was injured from any of the attack but we need to find the perpetrator so they cannot do any further harm in our communities."
Detective Constable Shaw added: "I am appealing for the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.
"We also encourage people to come forward if you know anything about the incident which will help with our investigation.
"This incident took place on a busy main road so I urge anyone who noticed a man acting suspiciously around that time or has captured it on dashcam footage to please contact us."
Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact police @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or ring 101 with reference 24000675488.
