PASSENGERS are facing travel chaos this afternoon (Saturday, August 10) as all train services running to and from Wirral are disrupted.

Due to a track fault between Hamilton Square and James Street services on the Wirral line are cancelled or delayed.

Trains from West Kirby and New Brighton have been terminated and started back from Birkenhead North. Trains from Ellesmere Port have also been terminated and started back from Birkenhead Central.

Rail replacement buses are running from Birkenhead Central to Moorfields and Birkenhead North to Moorfields in both directions.

Chester line:

  • Train services will terminate at and start back from Birkenhead Central.
  • Rail replacement buses are running from Birkenhead Central and Moorfields in both directions.

Ellesmere Port line:

  • Train services will terminate at and start back from Birkenhead Central.
  • Rail replacement buses are running from Birkenhead Central and Moorfields in both directions.

New Brighton line:

  • Train services will terminate at and start back from Birkenhead North.
  • Rail replacement buses are running from Birkenhead North and Moorfields in both directions.

West Kirby line: 

  • Train services will terminate at and start back from Birkenhead North.
  • Rail replacement buses are running from Birkenhead North and Moorfields in both directions.

Due to a track fault between Moorfields and Sandhills, services on the Northern line are disrupted.
