A Wirral post office has re-opened at the same location under new management this week.
Saughall Bridge Post Office, on Hoylake Road in Moreton restored its services on Thursday (August 8).
The previous branch at this location closed in April 2022 due to 'unforeseen circumstances' and was one of three in Wirral that were closed by the Post Office.
The new opening hours are: Monday to Sunday: 7am – 10pm. A spokesperson for the Post Office said this will provide 105 hours of service a week for the convenience of customers.
This is an extra 38 hours of service a week than when the branch was previously open including Saturday and Sunday afternoons and later daily closing than before.
Karl Haddon, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: "We are delighted to have restored Post Office services to Saughall Bridge area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.
"I know that the local community will join me in welcoming this good news and hope that our customers will continue to use this service."
News of the post office's reopening was welcomed by campaigners when it was confirmed in June. Moreton West & Saughall Massie councillor Vida Wilson said at the time of the announcement: "From the day we were first elected, this is one of the top issues raised with councillors Colin Baldwin, Gary Bennett and me.
"We have been in regular contact with the Post Office since then, highlighting the issues this was causing to residents and the need for it to re-open.
"Post Offices are a vital part of many high streets and Saughall Bridge is ideally placed to serve that part of the borough.
“We all saw the effect of the mass branch closures before 2010 and so we were determined to keep up the pressure on the Post Office to re-open Saughall Bridge.
“We're really looking forward to welcoming the new Postmaster to our community.
“Thank you to everyone who has backed our campaign, and to the Wirral Globe for reporting it!”
