Wirral Olympian Sam Quek ‘honoured’ to take part in Soccer Aid

The annual charity match which saw England taking on the Soccer Aid World XI FC took place at 7.30pm on Sunday, June 9 at Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge stadium.

Created by ex-Take That star Williams in 2006, Soccer Aid for UNICEF brings the nation together to help children worldwide have the best possible start in life.

The game, which pits teams of former footballers and celebrities against each other, saw England win 6-3.

Quek was joined by Usain Bolt, Jill Scott, Robbie Williams and Eden Hazard who took part in this year’s Soccer Aid.

The game raised more than £15m for UNICEF meaning more than £106m has been raised for the charity since it started in 2006.

Posting on social media platform, X, Quek thanked people for their donations stating it was an “honour” to be involved.

She said: “Over £15million raised for UNICEF tonight via Soccer aid. Spectacular effort by everyone involved and huge thank you to all who attended tonight and those at home who donated.

“I was honoured to be a small part of it. And well done Team England.”
