THE May bank holiday weekend will start with sunshine in Wirral according to the Met Office.

Experts have said people can expect a “typical springtime mix of weather” over the bank holiday weekend with sunshine and showers predicted.

For Wirral, the Met Office says residents can expect the weather to be cloudy with spots of rain with some brightness later.

Today:

A cloudy end to the week with spells of rain to start. Showery into the afternoon with a chance of the odd bright spell. Light winds and temperatures around average. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Turning much drier for all into the evening though still somewhat cloudy, with some clear spells developing overnight. A cooler night on offer than of late. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Saturday:

More sunshine on offer to start the weekend and feeling warmer too. A little hazy at times and the odd shower possible in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

The unsettled weather returns for the rest of the bank holiday weekend with sunny spells and showers, then longer spells of rain on Tuesday. Feeling warm, particularly in any sunshine.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mark Sidaway said: “The Bank Holiday weekend will see some sunny spells and it will feel quite pleasant in the sunshine for many on Saturday in particular.”

“Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday will likely see a return to sunshine and showers. Low pressure to the west is likely to push fronts into the UK on Sunday, these tending to break up and turn more showery in nature as they do so. We are likely to see some heavy, possibly thundery showers on both days, but there should still be some dry spells in between, and in any sunshine it will feel pleasantly warm.”
