A DAY of football featuring children's and adult teams has raised more than £1,800 for a charity supporting people and their families living with dementia.
The event took place at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday and raised £1,826.10 for the Alzheimer's Society. Around 500 people turned out to watch.
It featured games between Rakers Under 7s and Ashville u7s.
There was also a ladies game, followed by Rakers Violets u13s in action against Hope Farm u13s and then a men's game.
The event was organised by Adele Burns and husband Danny. Adele told the Globe: "It was an amazing day from start to finish. Spectators said there was a good turnout.
"Everyone who came said it was fantastic and can't wait to do it all again next year.
"As we done one last year for diabetes and it was a huge success we wanted to do another for a different charity which was close to home.
"This one was also a success, so next year we will be doing it again and continuing to do so every year for a different charity with the help from Debbie from Tranmere Rovers.
"The amount of people who kept saying thank you to me for doing this as they walked in the gates and walked out made it all worth while."
Looking ahead to the next tournament, Adele continued: "Our charity next year will be MIND (mental health) and suicide awareness.
"I personally think someone will know someone going through this as it affects near enough everyone, including me.
"We raised £1826.10 on Saturday and hopefully next year it will be even bigger."
