AN ARREST has been made after a man was found outside a Birkenhead pub with a head injury.

At around 7.30pm on Saturday, May 11, North West Ambulance Service informed officers that they had attended an incident outside the Charing Cross Hotel pub on Grange Road West in Birkenhead.

The victim in his 30s was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Following enquiries, a 53-year-old man from Birkenhead was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and taken into custody. He has since been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: "Although a man has been arrested, we are still keen to speak to those people who were in or near to the pub and saw this incident unfold.

"We want to establish the full circumstances and obtain any evidence, so come forward and share with us what you know so we can take action."
