A WIRRAL teenager has been found guilty in court after he struck an MK Dons fan across the face with wooden fencing.

At around 5pm on Saturday, January 13 a fight broke out between around 40 Tranmere Rovers and MK Dons fans outside Prenton Park stadium on Borough Road after the match had ended.

The fighting then continued onto Prenton Road East and Ingleborough Road.

Following enquiries, a 16-year-old boy from Bidston, was arrested and later charged on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

On Tuesday, May 8, the 16-year-old appeared at Liverpool Youth Court where it was heard how he struck an MK Dons fan across the face with wooden palisade fencing leaving the victim requiring stitches.

He was found guilty of affray, possession of an offensive weapon, and assault. He was also issued a three-year football banning order and a 10-month referral.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said that the force is “working closely” with Tranmere Rovers to prevent any further “unacceptable behaviour” at matches.
