A SCHOOLGIRL was left “fearing for her safety” after a gang of girls stamped on her head during an attack on a Wirral street.

At around 4.45pm on Sunday, May 5 a young girl was attacked by a group of around 13 girls on New Chester Road in Bromborough.

A member of the public saw the attack and told the group of girls to stop. They then left the area.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers are continuing to carry out witness enquiries in the area.

Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: “Our officers are continuing to investigate this violent attack which left a young girl fearing for her safety after the incident.

“Thankfully another woman bravely intervened and helped the girl after the attack.

“I would urge this woman or anyone who was in the vicinity of New Chester Road early on Sunday afternoon and witnessed the attack to please contact us so we can continue our investigation. 

"I am also appealing for residents to check your CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage as it may have captured the incident which may help with the investigation.”
