A MAN remains 'serious but stable' in hospital after a car collided with two pedestrians and crashed into two stationary vehicles in Heswall at the weekend.

Just after 1.30pm on Sunday (April 21) police received a report of a collision involving a man, a grey Fiat Punto and two parked vehicles on Village Road in the town. The car then collided into a building in the area.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services safely removed a 29-year-old man from behind the vehicle. He was taken to hospital via an air ambulance with serious injuries to his leg.

Fire and rescue crews removed the roof of the car and paramedics helped the occupant out of the car. They were given treatment and also taken to hospital.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

Chief Inspector Tom Welch said: "We are in the very early stages of establishing the circumstances of this incident. Officers are currently at the scene and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out.

"We are interested in hearing from anyone who saw the incident and are urging residents with CCTV or smart doorbell footage to check your systems for any evidence.

"Any information you have, however small you may think it is, could prove to be vital to our enquiries."
