A WIRRAL teenager has been charged after a large-scale brawl broke out between Tranmere Rovers and MK Dons fans after a game.

At around 5pm on Saturday, January 13 fans of the League Two sides began fighting outside Prenton Park stadium after the match had ended.

The fighting then continued onto Prenton Road East and Ingleborough Road.

Following enquiries, a 16-year-old male from Bidston, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He has now been charged with affray, possession of an offensive weapon and assault and will appear at court.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “A 16-year-old male from Birkenhead has been charged with affray, possession of an offensive weapon and assault.

“This follows an investigation into disorder with took place after Tranmere Rovers FC v MK Dons game on January 13, 2024.

“The male will attend Liverpool Youth Court.

“Merseyside Police will be seeking a Football Banning Order on the male.

"Merseyside Police are working closely with Tranmere Rovers to prevent any further unacceptable behaviour at matches.”
