A WOMAN was punched in the face while at a takeaway in Liverpool city centre.

Just after 2am on Sunday 31 March it was reported that a woman who was out with a group of friends was punched in the face after an altercation with a man at the Lobster Pot on Ranelagh Street.

The victim sustained bruises, internal mouth injuries and swelling to her face after the incident.

Since the assault extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted in the area, and detectives have issued two CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to who could assist in their investigation.

Detective Inspector Darren Taylor said: “This was a violent attack on a woman in our city centre that has left her with injuries to her face.

“Everyone should be able go out and feel safe in our city without the fear of being attacked and we are working to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.

“I am appealing to the man shown in this CCTV footage, or anyone who recognises him to come forward as we believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.

“Similarly, if you saw the assault or the victim involved in this incident in the early hours of Sunday morning please contact police as soon as possible.

“If you have any photos on your mobile of the incident or CCTV footage from Sunday 31 March then do let us know as any information you hold could support our enquiries.”
