WIRRAL'S motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M53, from 9pm April 14 to 5am April 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for drainage.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M53, from 8pm April 18 to 5am April 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 southbound, J2 - lane closure for structure - maintenance on behalf of National Highways.

• M53, from 9pm April 18 to 5am April 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound and southbound, junction 3 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M53, from 9pm April 22 to 5am April 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M53, from 8pm April 25 to 5am April 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound, jct three to 1 - lane closures and slip road closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
