THE Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team faced a busy day after they were called out to four incidents in 24 hours.

At around 11.24am yesterday (Thursday, April 11) four walkers were about to be cut off by the tide near Hilbre Island but were spotted by an off duty Coastguard Rescue Officer.

The officer called 999 to raise the alarm and the team were deployed alongside RNLI Wirral Lifeguards.

The lifeguards used their quad bike to get to the walkers and guide them to safe ground.

At 10.12pm later that same day, the team were tasked with assisting police in locating a  high risk vulnerable person.

The person was located by police and the team stood down.

At 10.59pm, while returning to the station from the high-risk vulnerable person search, the team were tasked again with assisting police search for another missing person.

The team searched the area around the last known position and located the person before police returned them to the safety of their family.

At 1.04am the following morning (Friday, April 12) the team were tasked to assist police with an incident in Liverpool.

After the incident was safely concluded the team were able to stand down.

Also tasked to the last three incidents were flank team HM Coastguard Crosby.
