POLICE have launched an appeal for witnesses after a "terrifying" shop lifting incident at a Wirral convenience store.
At around 7pm on Sunday (April 7), it was reported that two males were stealing items from the One Stop shop on Laird Street in Birkenhead.
A younger member of staff ran after the males and managed to retrieve some of the stolen items.
CCTV footage shows the alleged theft in progress and two men wanted in connection with it.
A member of staff, who asked not to be identified, told the Globe: "It was a terrifying experience for the member of staff who gave chase afterwards and whoever he ran after turned back as if they were going to have a go.
"We've only been open since October and have had a few thefts since; thefts of Easter Eggs, thefts of Christmas sweets. It's all petty stuff, but it's the quantity and then it mounts up."
Merseyside Police said an investigation is ongoing. If you have any details, Direct Message police at @MerPolCC or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 24000320985.
