A WIRRAL musician teamed up with muralist Paul Curtis as a charity event.

Paul Curtis has created more than 240 murals, many of which are scattered across the Wirral.

Most known for his Liver Bird Wings, the famous piece has been posted next to by countless people since it appeared on Jamacia Street in Liverpool in 2017.

One of the famous faces to have had his photo taken with the popular artwork is West Kirby musician, Michael Aldag, who even penned a song inspired by the wings when he was just starting out in his career.

Seven years later Michael has over a million followers on Instagram and TikTok and has toured the country, playing sell out shows to thousands of adoring fans.

On Monday, April 1, Michael attended Paul Curtis charity fundraiser draw which marked the end of his first ever exhibition, In one Place, which took place at the Royal Living Buildings.

Paul created three new pieces during the extended exhibition, which more than 7,500 people attended, making it the most successful public event in the venues history.

The largest piece of art is a mural depicting the construction of the Royal Liver Building, which will remain on public display in the atrium.

The smaller two paintings, featuring a tiger and a gorilla, were then auctioned and raffled to help raise funds for two charities close to the Paul’s heart; The Whitechapel Centre and Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

The auction, which happened a few days after the exhibition, took place at Adam Partridge sale rooms on Jordan Street.

To mark the occasion Michael was asked to select the winning ticket.

The winning bidder, Sean Ging, got to select which of the two paintings he wanted and chose the tiger, meaning the gorilla became the first prize in the draw.

The combined total from the sale of the tiger and draw tickets for the gorilla was £4,350.

Michael, who has previously volunteered with The Whitechapel Centre, not only picked the winning ticket for the draw, but he also performed a song.

Paul said: “A massive thank you to every single person who bought a ticket or helped spread the word online.

“Together we have raised a fantastic amount for the two charities and it was really important to me that 100% of the funds from the draw and auction went directly to the charities.

“I am genuinely touched by the amount of people that have gotten behind this and I'm also really grateful to Michael for agreeing to perform and do the draw, it really means a lot.”
