DRIVERS in and around Wirral will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a holdup of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M53, from 9pm March 31 to 5am April 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 both directions four to 5 - lane closure for barriers - permanent.

And a further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M53, from 9pm April 2 to 5am April 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 southbound, four to 5 - lane closure for barriers - permanent.

• M53, from 9pm April 11 to 5am April 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 northbound, junction 5 to junction 4 - lane closure for inspection/survey.

• M53, from 9pm April 14 to 5am April 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for drainage.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
