TWO men have been arrested after shots were fired in a community earlier this week.

Police were called to New Chester Road in New Ferry to reports of the shooting at 10.05pm on Tuesday, March 26.

There were no reports of any injuries or damage caused in the area after officers carried out CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries.

Last night officers investigating the incident arrested two 19-year-old men from Eastham and New Ferry on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Both were taken to a police station in Merseyside and have since been released on bail.

In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Tony Roberts said: “Although our officers have now made two arrests after what was an incredibly reckless crime that left a community in shock, we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to please come forward.

Wirral Globe:

Detective Chief Inspector Roberts added: “I hope these arrests show that Merseyside Police pro-actively investigates serious organised crime including the use of guns and is relentless in its pursuit of any offenders.
