WIRRAL is expected to see an “unsettled” Easter as winds and rain are forecast over the bank holiday weekend.

Experts from the Met Office have said that the peninsula can expect showery rain throughout the weekend as temperatures are set to reach a maximum of 12 °C.

Good Friday

On Friday (March 29), there will be a mixture of sunny spells and blustery scattered showers. These are expected to turn “heavy and thundery” at times. Temperatures around average. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday

Staying changeable through the Easter weekend, with scattered showers and sunny spells on Saturday. Turning drier on Easter Sunday with lighter winds. Uncertainty on Monday with rain or showers possible.

Some areas of mist or low cloud are likely on Saturday morning, these soon lifting to leave a mix of sunny spells and a few showers; mainly in the early afternoon. Variable cloud and a few more showers at times on Sunday. Winds easing and turning milder. Monday is expected to be unsettled, with showers or longer spells of persistent rain later, this lingering overnight.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Helen Caughey said: “Showers will continue into the weekend, especially for southern and western areas. However, it is likely that we will see something of an improvement for most areas, with showers tending to become less frequent, and a better chance of longer spells of sunshine for eastern and northern areas, especially on Sunday.

“It will also become less windy, and temperatures should start to trend upwards, feeling quite warm in any sunshine. However, more widely unsettled conditions look likely to return into Easter Monday, but there is still some uncertainty in the timing of this deterioration.”
