WIRRAL is lucky to have many independent businesses across the peninsula.

From cafes, bars, and restaurants to DIY stores, butchers and greengrocers there are many local businesses to support.

As well as your usual run of the mill establishments, Wirral is also home to some of the quirkiest places which offer something a little bit different.

Wirral’s first rescue cat café opens in Hoylake

Wirral’s first cat café has opened its doors on Monday, March 11.

The café was opened on Market Street on Hoylake Road by Jackson’s Animal Rescue.

Jackson's Animal Rescue was set up in 2015 by Steph Oliver, who said the idea behind the new café is to try and educate people "on the constant problem of breeding and selling cats".

The café is spaced out over two floors and is home to 13 rescue cats who will all be available for adoption.

New shop selling ‘geeky’ toys, memorabilia, and retro video games opens in Wirral

A new shop selling “geeky” toys, memorabilia, and retro video games has opened in Wirral.

Geeky Nerd Toys and Starbase 55 Toys and Collectables opened its doors on Saturday, March 2 at Champions Business Park on Arrowe Brooke Road in Birkenhead.

The new store is described as a “haven for geeks, gamers and film lovers”.

Soft play centre for dogs opens in Wirral

A soft play centre for dogs has opened in Wirral.

Dogs Go, based in Birkenhead, have launched a new soft play centre especially for dogs where owners can enjoy a coffee and a chat whilst their pets play, exercise and socialise, under the supervision of qualified staff.

The 6,000 sq. ft centre, on Champions Business Park already offers dog day care, training, birthday parties, a ‘puppachino’ bar, meet ups and prosecco nights.
