1. Wirral’s Paul O’Grady leaves ‘incredible’ sum in will for Battersea Dogs Home

Wirral TV presenter Paul O’Grady left an “incredible” amount of money in his will for Battersea Dogs Home.

It was revealed in a report that the Birkenhead-born entertainer set aside half a million pounds in his will for the animal rescue.

2. Wirral mum celebrates ‘incredible’ weight loss

 

 

A Wirral mum whose life changed "for the better" after losing more than eight stone is sharing the secret of her success to help others achieve their dream weight.

Ellie Watson, from Upton, decided in November 2022 that she needed to do something about her weight after seeing a picture of herself taken while on holiday.

3. Wirral chef ‘famous’ for her Mauritian onion bhajis and curries opens new café

A Wirral chef 'famous' for her homemade Mauritian food has opened a new café.

Devina Chapman, owner of Devina’s Mauritian Kitchen in Woodside Ferry Village, moved from Mauritius to Oxton in 2014 with her husband Gary.

While on a Visa, the 43-year-old worked for the NHS, but when Covid hit in 2020 she decided to start her own business cooking and delivering homemade transatlantic Mauritius food.

4. Retired Wirral teacher wins big on Michael McIntyre's BBC show The Wheel 

A retired teacher from Wirral scored big on Michael McIntyre’s BBC show The Wheel.

BBC Michael McIntyre's The Wheel saw Bob Rowlands from Wallasey scoop a £82,000 cash prize after a successful game.

The ex-teacher was the first to join the presenter and celebrities on the wheel during the show that aired on Saturday, March 16.

5. 'A tremendous experience' - Wirral head retiring after almost 40 years in education 

A Wirral headteacher is set to say goodbye and take on "new opportunities" after almost 40 years in education.

Simon Duggan took up the job at St Anselms College in Birkenhead in December 2002 and is retiring after 22 years as headmaster and a total of 36 years as a teacher.

Succeeding him as headteacher will be current deputy head Serena Cubbin.
