An Ellesmere Port man who tried to get a 13-year-old child to look at an image of a person engaging in a sex act has been jailed.

Jonathan Dyer, 32, of no fixed abode, previously pleaded guilty to that charge and of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a girl aged under 16.

At Chester Crown Court on Monday, March 18, Dyer was jailed for a total of 12 months.

The court heard Dyer had intentionally tried to communicate with the girl and discuss sexual activity, as well as requesting indecent images.

As well as the prison sentence, Dyer was handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, preventing him from living or communicating with any child aged under 16 without prior permission from social services, and limiting his use of internet-enabled devices and/or cameras.

He must also sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

A mobile phone seized as part of the police investigation was to be deprived.
