WIRRAL: The Magazine Hotel is CAMRA Wirral Pub Of The Year

Situated on the banks of the Mersey and described as 'steeped in history', The Magazine Hotel on Magazine Brow in New Brighton has won countless awards and has been featured in The Good Beer Guide.

With Steve and Mary at the helm, it offers fine cask ales and is one of the most loved pubs in the region and 2024 is set to be a great year — with the latest award and lots of exciting new additions.

Top chefs Dean Griffiths and Andy Pilling have joined forces to offer quality home cooked food and it’s been going down a storm since being introduced.

With many years of experience between, them the dynamic duo have brought to the table a seven days a week service — with small plates, pub classics, burgers and Sunday roasts.

"I'm really proud of the many awards we’ve won, including the regional CAMRA awards and being one of their best pubs in the country.

"Our pub has so much character and is ideally located on the banks of the Mersey but we can’t just rely on that — we need to be constantly improving.”

Steve, who started as Head Barman at The Magazine Hotel in 1998 and became landlord in 2012 continued: "I’ve seen the pub go through so many changes such as different breweries, price and energy cost increases, recessions, lockdowns and even a fire but it’s stood the test of time.

"It was built in 1759 and has so much history — I’ve kept its character but have made ongoing improvements and adapted with the times."

His 25th year there is set to be a wonderful success — with another award to add to 3 regional awards from 2021 to 2022, Wirral community pub 2023 and many others.

In addition to the quality food being served, the gorgeous beer garden has been spruced up ready for the warmer weather.

There are folk nights on Tuesdays and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
