AN air ambulance has landed in Central Park in Wallasey after reports of a house fire.

At around 3.48pm today (Monday, March 11) Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended a house fire in Annesley Road, Poulton.

Upon arrival, crews entered the property and rescued one person.

Oxygen therapy was administered to the casualty while four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus began fighting the fire using two hose reel jets.

At 4.09pm the fire was extinguished and all persons were accounted for.

Gas and electric to the property was isolated and two firefighters continued to dampen down the fire.

Breathing apparatus is no longer in use and neighbouring properties have been checked for fire spread.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that the casualty is conscious and breathing and has been handed over to North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to be taken to hospital and the incident has been scaled down to two fire engines.
