FOUR people have been taken to hospital after a crash on the M53 motorway.
At around 2pm today (Sunday, March 3) the M53 Northbound was blocked at Junction 1 Wallasey Dock Link South due to an accident involving two cars.
Emergency services attended the scene including Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service.
Two vehicles were found on the slip road with four people inside each car.
Ambulance staff assessed the wellbeing of the eight people at the scene of the crash. Four people were taken to hospital for further checks and treatment.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The incident began at 2.09pm and the slip road was originally closed for emergency services to work at scene.
"The slip was reopened with a lane 1 closure at 3.12pm. Recovery took place and the slip road was fully reopen at 3.52pm."
