TRAINS were terminated after a caravan was found on fire in Birkenhead.
At around 10.12pm last night (Wednesday, February 28) crews were called to a blaze on Corporation Road in Birkenhead.
Fire crews arrived to find a caravan alight on the road.
Crews extinguished the fire and dampened down the area.
All Wirral trains were terminated last night due to the fire being near the railway. Merseyrail announced that New Brighton and West Kirby services were terminated at Birkenhead North.
Rail replacement buses were requested to run between Birkenhead North and Hamilton Square.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service carried out a check of the railway line before a representative from Network Rail advised the line was clear of debris and could reopen.
Crews left the scene at 11.30pm.
