An Ellesmere port man has admitted possessing hundreds of indecent images of children.

Dax Chan, 48, of Overpool Road, Great Sutton, admitted a total of five charges when he appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 27.

Prosecuting, Lisa Maguire said the indecent images, obtained between June 2013 and February 2023, included two videos which were assessed as the most serious category, category A.

In addition, there were 618 indecent images assessed as category C, plus seven prohibited images of a child.

Police also found two extreme pornographic videos of a person involved in intercourse with an animal.

The court heard Chan came to the attention of police following intelligence linked with BitTorrent – a file-sharing service.

Magistrates said the case was too serious for them to deal with and Chan will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on April 5.

He was handed conditional bail and a pre-sentence report will be prepared.

As part of the conditions, Chan is subject to sex offender notification requirements and must register any internet-enabled devices with police, and not delete or disguise any internet activity.
