Work on new Wirral motor vehicle maintenance centre begins

The redevelopment of Innovation House on Power Road in Bromborough, which was approved at the end of last year, will include a 'a double height side extension' for the MOT bay.

There are also plans to bring in new members of staff. Apprentice training will also take place.

The building is now owned by Ellesmere Port-based Quicks Service Centre Limited. It is hoped the work will be completed by the end of March. Once finished, the company will move from its current site on Hardknott Road in Bromborough to the new premises.

Once work is finished, it will be a bigger building than the one we are now and it will take more work on board.

"Being able to buy this building is a massive deal for us.

"For garages in this area, nobody wants to rent to motor-trade people and nobody wants to sell to motor-trade people - that's just how it's become over the years, so to be a able to buy a freehold premises that you can do what you want with within the rules is perfect.

"That's what we've needed.

"It has had a number of different uses over the years. It was a workshop for Manweb and the company that had it last, Hi-Impact, did a lot of work to it and turned it into a training facility.

"They've moved to Birkenhead now, I understand, so this building became available."

"A double height side extension is proposed which simply continues the form of the building, overall enhancing the look of the building."

Glynn described the motor vehicle maintenance and repair centre's development as "a huge task" but added: "It will be fantastic when it's finished, it will be modern, big, new and will employ lots of people.
