A DAD has opened a coffee van in a Wirral park after as part of his recovery from a motorcycle accident.
Robert Palmer, from Liscard, wanted to open his own mobile café in February last year but was left bed-bound for three months with nerve damage to his right arm after falling off his motorbike.
Now, almost one year later, the 55-year-old has began operating Central Park Coffee & Ice-cream from the back of his van in Central Park in Wallasey.

Robert said: “I lost the use of my right arm completely after the accident so while I was healing I thought about what I was going to do.
“I had started looking at the idea of doing a mobile café and with me being a full-time dad to my daughter it ticked all the boxes.”

Robert serves freshly ground coffee, hot chocolate, teas, cold drinks, fresh baps, pasta pots and cakes seven days a week.
He said: “At the moment our winter hours are 10am-5pm and then in the summer it will be 8am-6pm.

“I think in the summer we’ll be really busy. I’m going to be adding ice cream which will include vegan options, iced coffees, frappes and some international coffees which we’re hoping will work really well. So should be something a bit different really.”

Robert said: “The soft launch was really good and the opening was fantastic especially considering the weather. I was really happy with the results - it was great.
“It’s been really well received which has been nice. I’ve got a two year permit there so it should be really good over the summer.

“I can’t quite fully close my right hand so I'm absolutely useless with the latte art but I’m getting about and doing things so it’s just building the muscle now the main thing was the nerve damage. A lot of things I had to learn to do left-handed but I’m working on being able to do it.”
