NANDO'S is opening its second Wirral restaurant today (Tuesday, February 6) creating more than 30 jobs.

The company, which specialises in chicken dishes, has moved into the former Flank Restaurant at Marine Point in New Brighton and will be open from 11am – 10pm seven days a week.

The opening has created 35 jobs, a mix of full and part-time positions.

In a statement ahead of today's opening Nando’s said it was "excited to be opening its doors and firing up the grills in its New Brighton, Marine Point restaurant".

It will serve Nando’s dishes including the recently launched Garlic Churrasco Burger, PERi-Mac & Cheese, and frozen cocktails.

A RUBRO machine has been installed which, Nando's say "means  you can now enjoy bottomless iced tea, and of course there’s plenty of PERi-PERi to keep things extra saucy too".

At Nando’s new Brighton restaurant this includes handmade light fittings created by Ashanti, and furniture design by David Krynauw.

'Vibrant' artworks from eight South African artists are also displayed throughout the restaurant, as part of Nando’s ongoing partnership with Spier Arts Trust.

The new site seats 120 inside and 32 outside. Flavour fans will also be able to Click & Collect, Takeaway and order via Deliveroo, to enjoy their Nando’s at home.

Nando's is also partnering with local charities in the area as part of it’s No Chuckin’ Our Chicken initiative, which secures food from its restaurants that was otherwise headed for landfill and redistributes it to good causes.

Restaurant manager Danny Green said: "We’re so excited to be opening at Marine Point in New Brighton.

"The restaurant looks amazing. We’re looking forward to welcoming customers with our irresistible flame-grilled PERi-PERi and good vibes."

Recent plans for external alterations as part of Nando's occupation of the premises included an 'enhanced' seating area, replacement plant, fascia signs, two internally-illuminated menu cases. The site will use the existing seating area layout and doorway entrance.

New planting boxes replace the existing planting on the current boundary for the seating area. A new kitchen extraction and air handling plant has been installed along with heating, cooling and catering condensers.

Previous boundary details will be replaced with new planting boxes that are modest in size and are at a substantial distance away from the edge of the public highway.

A statement issued along with the planning documents to Wirral Council said: "The proposals reflect Nando’s significant investment into this new location'.

It added: "Nando's is a popular operator which will increase the footfall in the area, and solidify the area’s reputation as a leisure destination".

Marine Point, which is home to Costa, Iceland, Home Bargains, Hungry Horse and the Light cinema, was sold in 2022 by Aprirose to DS Properties for £44m.

Nando's other Wirral restaurant is in Bromborough.
