THE owners of a popular Wirral chippy have announced it will close for a "much-needed" refurbishment.

The Green Hut at Moreton Shore confirmed that its "hard-worked frying range is going into retirement to be be replaced with a brand new one, along with a brand new kitchen."

It will close at 6pm on Friday for 'approximately two weeks'. No reopening date has been given yet.

The news was confirmed in a Facebook post this morning (Wednesday, January 31) which read: "Exciting news. Today, Thursday and Friday we will be open until 6pm, an extra hour to get your Green Hut favourites, because after Friday we will be closed for approximately two weeks for a much needed kitchen re- fit and refurbishment.

"Our hard-worked frying range is going into retirement to be be replaced with a brand new one, along with a brand new kitchen.

"Work starts this Saturday with a brand new roof by local roofers JW Roofers.

"Our new kitchen will ultimately benefit our staff to provide a much more modern and efficient working environment and ensure the food we produce is better than ever.

"Updates will be posted throughout the next two weeks. Open until 6 today, Thursday and Friday".

The Green Hut hit the headlines in 2022 when comedian and TV presenter Johnny Vegas was pictured paying a visit.
