DO you think car parking charges in Wirral are reasonable?

Data from Parkopedia, which has been analysed by Cashfloat, shows not only which cities have the most expensive and cheapest parking, but how much each car park in your city costs.

The most expensive city for parking is London with an average two-hour cost of £14.49.

Westminster follows closely behind with an average of £14.09.

In third place is Manchester, with an average two-hour cost of £6.94.

For Wirral, in popular shopping areas such as Liscard, and Birkenhead, the average two-hour cost to park is £2.

Bridge Street and John Street charge a little more at £3.45 for two hours.

Marine Point, Richmond Street, Mason Street and Egerton Street in New Brighton allow people to park for free for two hours or more.

When asked if parking charges are reasonable across Wirral, many Globe readers disagreed.

Lynne Hamilton said: "The two saddest, most depressing shopping places are Liscard and Birkenhead, both charge to park.

"They are like ghost towns, yet Bromborough retail where there is free parking is booming and bustling with shoppers, doesn’t take a genius to work out why".

Rebecca Atherton agreed, saying: "I think the evidence speaks for itself - whilst not unreasonable people will drive to Bromborough which had less shops because they could park for free than go to Birkenhead and now Birkenhead is empty and all the shops gone".

Monika Skinner said: "Parking needs to be free! Local shops and businesses will benefit".

Parks such as Eastham Country Park and Wirral Country Park, also charge to park in their car parks.

Leanne Amanda Rowe said: "I'm absolutely horrified and disgusted that you now charge people to park at the country parks".

Hospital car parking charges

Arrowe Park Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital also recently introduced new parking charges in their car parks.

Charges are £3.20 for two hours, £4.50 for four hours, £5.50 for six hours, £7 for 12 hours and £10 for 24 hours.

Julie Force said: "I think Arrowe Park Hospital car park is ridiculous."

Mark Peters added: "The inadequate parking and extortionate prices make Arrowe Park Hospital the worst parking nightmare on Wirral.

"It should have a big multistorey."

The average two-hour car parking charge for Liverpool is £6.12, putting them in sixth spot for the most expensive in Britain.

Les Brunskill said: "Birkenhead dreadful shops pay to park. Liverpool's brilliant shopping experience and you pay the same.

"You do the math."
